How are you travelling to Driftwood?

Route 1.

Along the Wild Atlantic Way & Skellig Ring heading South through the small fishing village Portmagee on the R565.

This route offers spectacular views from the top of Coomanaspic and passes the majestic Kerry cliffs on the right hand side. The village of Portmagee is approx. 10-12 mins drive from Driftwood.

Route 2.

Along the Wild Atlantic Way & Skellig Ring heading North through Ballinskelligs on the R566.

This route is less steep but just as breath-taking as you enter the Bay and the views to Skellig Michael open out in front of you.

Route 3.

Turning right from the main Ring of Kerry route approx. 4km after from the town of Caherciveen.

When driving Southwards, bear left after driving a further 2km instead of driving onwards on the R565, this is the shortest route from Caherciveen and the one most favoured by the locals.

Route 4.

From Killarney or Kenmare, approx. 75kms from both large towns.

The nearest airport is Kerry Airport which is approx. 75kms from Driftwood, (1Hr 10mins drive). Cork Airport is approx. 160kms from Driftwood, with Shannon Airport being slightly further away. All three airports offer rental car options.  

Buses travel daily from Caherciveen to Killarney along the main Ring of Kerry route and timetable information can be sourced from www.buseireann.ie Killarney is also the nearest train station which brings rail passengers to Cork and Dublin and further afield.

Rental cars are available from all airports and major towns in the area. A local tour guide offers a mini bus tour of the Skellig Ring and Iveragh Pennisula and is well worth checking out, contact details are 086 833 7582 (Cork Luxury Travel)
